CAPTAINS

Captain Carlos Díaz

Carlos has been a captain in guatemalan waters for over 20 years. He was part of the Fins 'n Feathers captains, aboard the Gypsy and the Sirena. His range from being guatemalan Sailfish champion for 6 years running within this decade to earning top spots at international tournaments. He has dedicated his time to pursue an expertise in Marlin fishing within the guatemalan coastine, achieving successes like a 550 on the fly. His numbers speak for themselves, with 68 releases on conventional tackle on one day and 24 releases on the fly on another day.



Captain Nestor García

Captain Nestor García, is an up and coming super star in Guatemala. Nestor has been both a first mate and Captain for several years in Guatemala and he knows these waters like the back of his hand. Nestor has excelled at every job he has taken on and his boat handling skills and fishing knowledge make him a real winner. For the 2007 - 2008 season, Nestor worked as both first mate and relief captain on our 36 Jersey Cape, Fishy Business. For the 2008-2009 season, Nestor captained the Hooked up, our newest boat on the fleet. He will now be undertaking the big responsibility of captaining the Fishy Business.



Captain Marcial Fajardo Ruiz

Captain Marcial Fajardo Ruiz is one of the best local captains in the Guatemalan fleet. He started working as a second mate in 1994, together with Haron Valdez. One year later he went to work aboard the Gypsy as their first mate with Captain Carlos Diaz.

In 1998 he transferred to the Inter Price as captain and this same year travelled to Costa Rica to participate as a captain in their fishing tournament.

His two best fishing days have been: 1) 68 sail fish released and 16 caught on the fly and 2) a Grand Slam including black and blue marlin, along with a sailfish.

He’s also caught 14 rooster fish in one day with live bait.

Capt. Ruiz has been a boat captain for the last 9 years, and is an expert fishing the Guatemalan waters.



Captain Juanga Lopez

In 1997, 1998 and 1999 Juanga and his crew were recognized by the IGFA Billfish Foundation as the top White Marlin Crew.

During 2001, Juanaga was aboard the NuCo2 when they released 1,017 sailfish while fishing 71 days in Costa Rica.

You may have seen him on ESPN2 abaord the A-Fin-ity where they won the Billfish Extreme Release League Tournaments two years in a row 2002 and 2003. He took 2nd place in the Blue Marlin Tournament in Puerto Rico in 2003, 1st place in the Cabeza de Toro White Marlin tournament in the Dominican Republic in 2004, 2nd place in the Buccaneer Sailfish Tournament in Palm Beach, Florida in 2004, 2nd in the Presidential Challenge caribean cup in Venezuela in 2005 2005, 17th annual atlantic ocean aftco tag/flag tournament most tagged white marlin and top angler ,Juanaga's experience and personality will enhance your fishing adventure abaord Tres Amigos.
